Fasting and Prayer

Days of Fasting and Prayer at Great Shepherd

The Church of the Great Shepherd holds monthly “Days of Fasting and Prayer” for certain issues.  In November we held a day of fasting and prayer for the unemployed/underemployed.  In December we held a day of fasting and prayer for those seeking physical, spiritual, or emotional healing and strengthening.  On January 14, 2009 we held a day of fasting and prayer for the new Anglican Province that is forming in North America.  We will also be fasting and praying for the new “diocese” that needs to form in the Chicagoland area.

On August 12th, 2009, we will hold another Day of Fasting and Prayer.  We are asking the Lord to stir our hearts with a fresh zeal for Him, to revitalize our love for Him, to deliver us from spiritual lethargy that may have crept into our hearts.   All of those who have fasted and prayed on that day are invited to join us for a Soup Supper at our ministry center.  The dinner will begin at 6:30pm and a Eucharistic Prayer Service will immediately follow.  Those attending are asked to bring their favorite soup to share, if possible.  We suggest bringing your soup in a crockpot.  For more information, please contact our church office.
